This pack contains images of indigenous ruins scattered across New Mexico, majestic vistas of Machu Picchu in Peru, plus castles, observatories, historic cities, and shrines from the US, Europe, and Japan. The majority of photos were taken in the 1980s and 90s. Distributed through a Creative Commons Attribution License, you can remix, alter, photobash, crop, and revise in whatever ways best suit your projects.

Her story: Joyous Judy (as my late mother-in-law preferred to be called) was a queer astrophycisist who taught at UMass. Known to the world as Dr. Judith Young, in the course of her career, she traveled the world, speaking at conferences and studying distant galaxies through remote observatories. Along the way, she took photos of the things she loved: quiet corners of nature, sunsets, flowers, rainbows, interesting architecture, and every animal that would hold still long enough for a photo.

We honor her legacy by sharing these images for others to use in their art.
