CounterSpell
A downloadable game
Play as wizards engaged in a friendly duel. Power your magic with imagination.
With an arcane pylon hanging between you, compete to knock it from the sky using magic alone. Whoever collects six wins first, wins the game.
By the Duelists’ Accords, you cannot target one another with your spells. This is a game about prowess and invention, not about causing harm.
CounterSpell is a duet game for all ages. The 6-page PDF features art and design work by Natalie Chenard and Alderdoodle. Title font, Murphy's Folly, by Chequered Ink.
To play the game, you also need one standard deck of playing cards.
Our wizards believe transwomen are women and transmen are men.

I was disappointed to download this and find t was just a game of single card draw, with whoever has the higher card winning a round of dueling, first to six. I had expected the players’ creativity to play a role in the resolution. Did I misunderstand something?
While the game *could* be played as nothing more than back-and-forth card draws for points, the card draw is only there to provide a light framework & resolution to the players' descriptions. The real play unfolds in those descriptions, where players are encouraged to be as creative and elaborate as they're inspired to be.
I don't normally leave comments on -- too many bad experiences in the early days of the Internet. But it's a new year, so I thought I'd try something new. And it's always nice to hear from the folks who enjoyed one of the things I've made.
